Meet JD Caceres
In 2009, before a family member’s house was to be torn down, Jose Caceres’ wife had a spontaneous idea—gather the rest of the family, and have some fun by painting the walls of the house together. They painted over the ten months prior to demolition, covering each white space of the 10,000 sq. foot house with doodles and murals. It was then, by chance, that Jose began to exhibit some remarkable talent. In a short period, he covered more walls than anyone, creating original images at the spur of the moment simply from his imagination. Everyone, including Jose himself, wouldn’t have guessed that this would open such a door, igniting a passion for art.
It’s evident by this introduction to painting that Jose is a natural artist. He relies only on imagination, life experiences and dreams to create one of a kind, colorful pieces embedded with spiritual symbolism. At first, his subject was his frustrations with everyday life, but with time his passion led him to paint larger, more global issues, such as deconstruction of current events and things as they were transpiring in the world. Images would download into his psyche prompting him to create new pieces to showcase how he imagined society, using abstract art. Keep in mind that he has never had any art training. Jose began his art experience with water color on a wall but quickly moved on to oil, acrylic, and mixed-media on canvas. Now, everything from world news, natural disasters, financial ruin, and even biblical stories are insightful to his work.
According to the artist “Art is endless, it defines time.” By this, he aspires to bring the world a sense of meaning from a place of no order or rules.
Born into a rich Peruvian culture, Jose D. Caceres has lived in the US since 1991. He now lives in Westchester, NY with his wife Rose and their high spirited German Shepherd, Sampson.
I am proud to have a collection of artworks sponsored by Agora’s Gallery here.
